Summary
An urgent discussion for funders on democratic renewal.
On behalf of Civic Power Fund, John Ellerman Foundation, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust, we are inviting you to join an urgent discussion on democratic renewal.
Only half of UK adults voted in the 2024 General Election and the traditional two party political system is under continued pressure - with new political parties forming, and smaller parties with hugely varying levels of profile and coverage emerging.
With an Elections Bill on the horizon, funders must come together and consider our role in responding to these shifts and strengthening UK democracy.
The UK Democracy Fund offers a vital opportunity, so we will hear from the Head of the Fund Ellen Berry about timely ways to collaborate.
This is a closed-door, funder only session and a joining password will be shared with registered participants in advance.
This meeting will be facilitated by Martha Mackenzie, Executive Director of Civic Power Fund and Sufina Ahmad, Director of John Ellerman Foundation. Ellen Berry will share the UK Democracy Fund’s strategy for the Elections Bill along with an invite for funders to contribute to the Fund or to align parts of their funding to the Fund. We will then have time for questions and a wider discussion about democracy funding democratic renewal.
If you have any questions about this meeting, then please email Sufina on Sufina@ellerman.org.uk.
