Summary

Driven from the findings of the Power of Small projects, the funding roundtables will unite funders to share insights, explore strategies, and strengthen collaboration.

The idea for the funding roundtables has come strongly out of the research of the Power of Small Project. NCVO has been leading on the project for just under a year, exploring how best to support small charities across England and the funding roundtables have emerged as a key theme from our research. The idea is to hold pivotal series of roundtables this February, bringing together key funders from across the UK to explore innovative ways to support small charities and bring together funders to discuss best practice across the system.

As backed up by this project, and other research, Small charities, with incomes under £1 million, are essential to addressing grassroots challenges and delivering transformative community impact. However, they face growing barriers to sustainability, including limited access to resources and complex systemic challenges, which for some small charities are compounded by additional challenges.

These roundtables aim to:

  • Share findings from the recent Power of Small research, highlighting critical needs and opportunities.
  • Discuss best practices in funding models, collaborations, and policy interventions to enhance resilience.
  • Foster collaboration and mutual learning among funders to strengthen the charity ecosystem.
