Summary

A conference for funders to explore ethical implications of AI for our communities

How do we build a better society in the age of AI?

You are invited to attend the National Lottery Community Fund’s second conference exploring AI and the role of grant making.

Last year, funders came together to discuss the opportunities and risks that AI presents to the funding sector. This year we go deeper - focusing on the ethical implications of AI for our communities, for how we fund, and our responsibilities as grant makers.

Through discursive workshops with peers, thought provoking lightning talks and inspiring demos from experts, we’ll explore:

  • What impact community involvement could have in the development of AI technology - and what’s at stake if their voices aren’t included?
  • We’ll think about our role as funders and how we can act collectively;
  • and we’ll hear about the risks AI poses, from social cohesion to environmental challenges, and how we could help mitigate them.

We may not find all the answers, but together we’ll come away with a clearer picture of the landscape and sector needs, some practical ideas to take back to our organisations, and a stronger sense of how we can work together more tactically as a funding community.

This event is free and aimed at funders and grant making organisations. The venue is Lumiere Underwood Lofts, London, N1 7JQ
