Aims and activities
SYP Trust is interested in working with other funders who want to support and/or recruit young trustees.
Over the past few years, we have supported Sculpt - a charity empowering young people to shape their future. Sculpt have been running a 6-week trustee training programme, Trust in You (funded by City Bridge Foundation). The Trust in You programme has trained two cohorts of young trustees, providing mentors and supporting them to apply for trustee positions.
SYP Trust and Sculpt would like to continue and expand this work, supporting another cohort of young trustees who would then be able to apply for trustee positions in trusts and foundations, or other operational charities. Additionally we would like to explore training to support boards to work with young trustees.
How to get involved
We are looking for collaborators to join us to fund and support a cohort of 6-8 young people to work through the programme with Sculpt. Each young person recruited to the programme will require around £1,800 to cover the cost to the training partner, Sculpt. We would like to collaborate with other Trusts and Foundations and charities who would like to support this initiative and have the opportunity to recruit one of the young trustees at the end of the training.
We are also interested in having discussions and exploring funding to help boards be ready for and support their new young trustees once in place - this could include a training course or a toolkit.
Please contact Johanna Tompsett at SYP Trust if you are interested in getting involved.
