Aims and activities

Young Futures Fund (YFF) is a partnership of local organisations and people (in Buckinghamshire) dedicated to funding the aspirations of individual young people (aged under 30), and organisations supporting children and young people (CYP) through targeted activity. We want to ensure that the next generation are properly supported with the required resources to realise their goals and potential.

The fund is live now, and we are currently recruiting for the Youth Board, who will help shape and guide the project over the coming years. This Youth Board will be responsible for setting funding criteria, making decisions on grant applications, and being ambassadors for CYP issues and the Fund itself.

It is intended to be a platform and facilitation tool - giving those who want to make CYP grants (both to non-profit groups and to individuals) a method of distributing via participatory grant-making. It will also act as a shop front for young people, and youth-orientated charities, to access grants.

How to get involved

We would love to talk to funders who are interested in supporting young people, either directly through bursaries/scholarships, or indirectly through local CYP sector charities. While this is a very local fund (restricted to Buckinghamshire), we are open to collaborate with national funders who want to trial working in a significant participatory funding project.

We are open to being flexible and adapting the model to meet particular priorities for funders. This is a trial project, running for at least two years, and we want to be innovative and push the limits of the idea!

Aside from directly contributing to pooled funds, or starting an independent fund under the YFF 'umbrella', we are also open to exploring opportunities for research and policy discussions, using the YFF framework.

You can contact us via henry@heartofbucks.org for an informal discussion or exploration of the possibilities!
