Aims and activities
The Wee Bursary supports children and young people in the City of Glasgow with direct, individual bursary support to go into or maintain a positive destination. The Wee Bursary: Multi-Partner Funding for Glasgow's Youth
Bursaries are via referrals from youth workers, schools' pastoral/education teams and extended charity network.
Bursaries support hardship (food/fuel/clothing), funding for education/employability support, travel (including driving lessons) and data/digital kit.
Introduced in October 2023, in its first year, the Bursary supported over 360 children and young people.
We are keen to hear from other grantmakers/funders that may support the Bursary - demand is higher than our current (collective) £100k annual budget.
We are also keen to progress similar Bursaries in Birmingham (due to launch in September 2025), London and Edinburgh with other cofunders.
How to get involved
You may be considering your organisation’s support to financially vulnerable young people in Glasgow (or wider). We would be delighted to speak with you about the Bursary support and the impact it’s already having on young people’s lives.
