Aims and activities

A collective of Scotland-focused funding officers who lead on or who are involved in the development and delivery of funder safeguarding policy and practice within their organisations.

The aim is to share practice, learning and ideas on how funders fulfil their roles and responsibilities for the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults in Scotland.

The network was established in 2022 following the involvement of a number of Scottish funding officers in safeguarding training activity. Off the back of this it was suggested that it would be useful for those involved in funding work with children, young people and vulnerable adults in Scotland, to connect and to share our individual funder approaches to safeguarding – with a view to informing and improving our learning, systems and processes.

The network has been meeting on a semi-regular basis (roughly quarterly) since January 2022. Meetings are fairly informal with a rolling chair and flexible agendas informed by the ‘live’ interests and aspects of safeguarding policy and practice that members are working on. A Teams space has been set up where members can share useful safeguarding resources.

The network is not a space for discussion on, or sharing of, safeguarding allegations or cases relating to grantees or organisations that members are involved with.

How to get involved

The Network is there for any organisation that has, as a major part of its remit, the role to distribute funding in Scotland to those working with children, young people and vulnerable adults. If you wish to take part please email William Grant Foundation.
