Aims and activities
Comic Relief's annual Radio 1 Challenge in the build-up to Red Nose Day is one of the biggest events in the UK fundraising calendar. It sees hundreds of thousands of donations each year, many of which are from individuals that don’t regularly contribute to charity. By reaching a young audience, via Radio 1, we aim to raise money and awareness, but also begin a culture of giving amongst young people with the hope that this becomes a habit later in life.
Providing matched funding to these donations will make it more appealing to donors of all ages, allowing us to support even more organisations that are tackling the causes and consequences of poverty.
How to get involved
We are seeking additional funders to support fundraising efforts by offering to match donations made by the public.
This opportunity would be shared across broadcast media over the duration of the challenge, ahead of Red Nose Day 2026 on the 20th March.
If you’d like to get involved then please email partnerships@comicrelief.com

Learning and Resources
We can share more details about the Challenge with any interested organisations. Last year’s challenge, Jamie Laing’s Ultra Marathon, saw a huge amount of engagement with 187m views across Comic Relief and BBC Radio 1’s platforms and it raised more than £2m. We hope, by working with others, that this year’s challenge will be even bigger and better!
