Aims and activities
Meaningful youth participation in grant-making supports funders to understand and embed lived experience in funding programmes, supports young people's learning and development and is fairer to applicants and intended beneficiaries.
We'd like to build on a recent pilot and develop a National Youth Bank (based on the local Youth Bank model developed by YouthLink Scotland) of young people from across Scotland with different lived experience and from diverse backgrounds that can form smaller advisory or assessor groups to support funders to embed meaningful youth participation in their grant making programmes. The young people will be appropriately trained (we have developed several accredited/SCQF rated learning opportunities related to grant making) and receive high quality structured support throughout any engagement process and beyond by YouthLink Scotland.
How to get involved
We are looking for interested funders that might collaborate with each other to provide funding to support the initial cost of scoping and establishing a National Youth Bank and that would continue to support the sustainability of the programme by accessing the support offered and committing to embedding more meaningful and high quality youth participation in their funding programmes.
