Aims and activities

Just Foundations Initiative (JFI) was a group of Chief Executives working in UK foundations.  We came together in a personal capacity. Our meetings enabled us to exchange experience, ideas and challenges so that we could best advance racial justice in our foundations and the sector more broadly.

Our meetings were also a space where we supported and challenged each other and exchanged ideas for action. We published notes of our meetings as part of our accountability.

We recognised the responsibility that white people, and particularly white people in leadership positions, have for taking overdue action on these issues. We invited guests and speakers with lived experience of racial injustice, who determined how they wanted to challenge us and hold us accountable.
