Aims and activities
GrantAdvisor UK is an online service that encourages open dialogue between social impact organisations and grant-makers by collecting authentic, real-time reviews and comments on grant-seekers’ experiences working with funders. We invite funders to register with GrantAdvisor UK. We will support you to start gathering reviews from grant-seekers. Together we can make more collaborative impact.
Our approach aims to gather honest and public feedback on grant-makers’ work, whilst also creating stronger peer sharing between third sector organisations. The lack of feedback loops in grant-making practice is a significant barrier to a more effective sector. We are working in collaboration with you to change that.
We hope to explore collaboratively how we can use the data and insight from GrantAdvisor UK to reach these outcomes:
- Improved communication between grant-makers and grant-seekers
- Increased knowledge and understanding of what funders are doing well, and what contributes towards positive grant-making experiences
- Increased knowledge and understanding of what funders are not doing well, and what contributes towards negative grant-making experiences
- Increased support and practical ideas for how to improve grant-making practices and behaviours.
GrantAdvisor UK is an invaluable tool which supports City Bridge Trust as a listening and learning organisation. As a funder, we are proud to have supported and utilised GrantAdvisor UK since its inception.
How to get involved
Funders can register for free on GrantAdvisor UK and we will be in touch to support funders to start gathering reviews from grant-seekers. If you're a funder you get:
- Ratings of what you are good at (similar to peer reviews for skills on LinkedIn)
- Ratings for your accessibility
- Granular feedback on what you are doing well
- Advice on what you could do better
- Space to respond to reviews
This is the type of data that can help you become more responsive and accessible to the organisations and causes you want to fund.
Also, if you encourage your grantees and applicants to leave a review then it shows everyone your commitment to openness and fairness.
Register here or contact the GrantAdvisor UK team for more information.
