The goal of the Pilot Phase of 'Home is Where the Harm is' was to demonstrate that emergency financial aid of up to £200 could be delivered safely and confidentially to survivors of domestic abuse within 48 hours via ATM Cashpoints across the UK, with no need for a bank card or app.
The appeal was backed by British Airways and other campaign partners, offering match funding of up to £12,000. The public responded with powerful support, raising a total of £29,909 in just 30 days.
This saw 136 people in domestic abuse situations supported to either flee difficult situations or to help them in rebuilding their lives.
The pilot proved to be a great success with each cash grant making a difference to the life of survivors, offering them the means to escape dangerous situations and rebuild their lives. The success of this appeal underscores the power of community-driven initiatives and their impact on vulnerable populations.
The National Benevolent Charity and Crowdfunder Foundation are calling on funders, philanthropists and companies to contribute match funding, to help the get more funding into the hands of people who need it more quickly.
How to get involved
We're keen to collaborate with funders who will add to the match funding pool, so we can raise more funds from the public. We know that match funding provides an incentive to give, with research showing where their donation is matched people are more likely to give and will often give more.
As part of the collaboration you'll get insights into this new funding model, and a chance to engage with all the partners who are always keen to share their knowledge and learning.
