Aims and activities
The Environmental Funders Network (EFN) is a network of trusts, foundations and individuals making grants on environmental and conservation issues.
Our mission is to increase the overall level of financial support for environmental causes and to help environmental philanthropy to be as effective as it can be.
We have three main strands of work:
- Relationship building - networking members with each other and with effective environmental organisations.
- Intelligence sharing - aggregating the collective intelligence of our members through our publications, events and monthly newsletters
- Research- analysing the funding landscape to help funders give more effectively.
EFN also co-ordinates a Rapid Response Fund, which enables funders to help environmental organisations respond swiftly to unexpected crises and opportunities.

We can connect you with established environmental funders and invite you to EFN’s funder-only events to learn more about key issues.
EFN asks participating foundations, trusts and individuals to pay a membership contribution, with donations suggested on a sliding scale related to total annual environmental grant-making.

Over 200 trusts, foundations and individual donors have been involved in EFN since its inception in 2003. Many of these are listed here.
