Aims and activities

The Regional Funds aim to amplify local philanthropy by applying Big Give’s proven match funding model at a place-based level. This ensures that more local causes can access match funding and benefit from the visibility and reach of nationally coordinated campaigns while addressing gaps in regional funding.

As a Regional Champion, by collaborating with Big Give, funders can support charities in places that matter most to them. Their contributions are ring‑fenced for their chosen region and used to double public donations - inspiring greater generosity and unlocking significantly more value for local charities and their communities, resulting in multiples of up to four or times for Champions.

Big Give Regional Funds bring funders, charities, and the public together behind shared local priorities. The result is stronger regional third-sector resilience, more support for trusted organisations, and a greater overall return on every pound committed helping to create long‑term, measurable benefits for communities.

See the North East case study in the Learning and resources section below for an example of how this works in practice.
