Aims and questions
Aims and activities
This is a space to learn, collaborate, and take action, ensuring climate resilience funding is more effective and responsive to real needs.
The journey will be offered free of charge (excluding travel costs) and will be developed subject to demand.
The Challenge:
Right now, communities are taking action to adapt to climate change and build resilience, but:
- The donor landscape is shifting, making it harder to access funding (or long term, dynamic funding) for adaptation and resilience
- Many responses are reactive rather than proactive, missing opportunities to build real, lasting resilience
- Without proper support, communities risk maladaptation – short-term fixes that don’t solve long-term challenges
- A more holistic, community-led approach is needed. One that prioritises long term change and avoids the high costs of disaster response later
- See our article on the Resilience Continuum in Alliance for further details on why it is more important than ever for philanthropy to fund climate resilience
What’s our solution?
We’re inviting funders on a Learning & Action Journey to explore ways they can increase and improve the quality of their climate resilience funding to make it more effective and impactful. Together we will:
- Identify gaps and opportunities to kick-start or strengthen your approach to funding climate resilience
- Learn from diverse voices – community members, field experts, project implementers, and funders – to understand the realities on the ground for communities taking climate action
- Learn through peer exchange, site visits (virtual or in-person), and practical discussions on how to drive meaningful change
- Take action with solutions that align funding practices with real community needs, ensuring long-term resilience.
Could this be a fit?
This opportunity is for you if you’re curious about funding climate resilience in a way that works for communities and are ready to commit time and financial resources to making it happen.
We estimate a time commitment of 20 hours over 6 – 9 months. These are rough estimates and may change based on cohort size and need.
We aim to close this call and respond with further information by July 2025
