Place-Based
Place-based collaborations provide targeted support for specific geographic areas at all levels: from street and neighbourhood to county and region. Collaborations based on place reflect the complex needs of communities and aim to provide holistic support. Several place-based funder networks are developing responses to Covid-19, and we will add details of these on this page. Place-based collaborations featured so far are London, Yorkshire, Wales and Greater Manchester
Collaborations
London Funders: London Community Response Fund
London Funders is the membership body for funders from all sectors who want to take action to help people from across London’s communities to live better lives. They bring together over 170 organisations from the public, private and independent sectors, with a clear focus on collaboration – convening funders to connect, contribute and cooperate together.
Yorkshire Funders Forum
The Yorkshire Funders Forum (YFF) enables local funding organisations of all sizes to be better connected and informed in order to boost their impact on Yorkshire people and places.
Greater Manchester Funders' Forum
The Greater Manchester Funders' Forum exists to enable independent grant makers, social investors and public sector funders to collaborate and coordinate programmes.
It was established during the COVID-19 crisis as both national and local funders in Greater Manchester urgently came together to share intelligence, perspective and understanding.
The Forum additionally encourages and supports the collaboration and alignment of work to prevent duplications and ensure support is available where it is needed.
Community Foundation Wales
In 2015 Garfield Weston Foundation produced a report called An Insight into the Future of Charity Funding in Wales, sadly, it seems that very little has changed since then.
